Bringing Health
and Hope to the DR

In Constanza, Dominican Republic, our mission is to deliver essential healthcare services to remote and underserved communities, improving health outcomes and quality of life. Twice a year, our volunteer-led medical outreach trips provide primary care, health education, and community health support to those in need. These trips go beyond medical assistance; they are about building relationships, understanding local needs, and fostering lasting change in the communities we serve. All services provided during these trips are completely free, ensuring that everyone receives the care they deserve without financial barriers.

These conditions contribute significantly to disability and mortality rates in the Dominican Republic. HOF collaborates closely with local healthcare providers to deliver sustainable health education and screenings. This partnership ensures that efforts are integrated into the local healthcare system, fostering long-term health improvements. Our commitment to providing free services guarantees that these essential health initiatives are accessible to all.

Service Trips and Operations

Twice annually, HOF organizes service trips to Constanza, conducting comprehensive health screening clinics (known locally as operativos) and home visits. These operativos include public health lectures, screenings for hypertension, diabetes, and anemia, treatment for minor ailments, prenatal vitamins distribution, and preventative dental care for children through fluoride treatments. Local doctors and volunteers work side by side to deliver these services, ensuring accessibility and continuity of care within the community.

Logistics and Accommodations

Volunteers typically fly into Santo Domingo before traveling by rented vans to Constanza. Accommodations in Constanza are provided at Hotel Constanza, offering secure and comfortable lodging near both clinic sites and the Puente Headquarters. The hotel ensures safety and convenience throughout volunteers' stay, with meals provided onsite and opportunities for local exploration during downtime.

Partnership with Puente Desarrollo Internacional

The Health Outreach Foundation partners with Puente Desarrollo Internacional to ensure continuous healthcare support in Constanza, Dominican Republic. Puente plays a crucial role by leveraging data-driven solutions and community leadership to identify and address local health needs. They provide essential services such as clean water, sanitation, and health education, aligning with HOF's mission to deliver comprehensive and free healthcare to underserved populations. This partnership ensures that HOF's impact endures year-round, fostering sustainable health improvements and community empowerment.

Cultural Engagement and Impact

Through initiatives like Casa A Casa (House to House), volunteers engage directly with the community, conducting screenings for new patients and following up with those unable to attend operativos. This approach not only enhances medical outreach but also fosters cultural exchange, building trust and understanding between volunteers and locals. Many volunteers find these experiences transformative, deepening their connection to Constanza and its residents.

Whether you're a seasoned healthcare professional or someone passionate about making a difference, every volunteer's contribution is invaluable.
